Mini-digger working on the track surface

Work was completed this week on Langrish Byway 14, a right of way that passes along the western boundary of the Butser Hill side of the Country Park. This  route runs south from the Petersfield to East Meon road, up to the Butser car park.  With great views of ‘Grandfather’s Bottom’ one of the finest geo-morphological features on the South Downs.

Local contractors, Leydene Fencing, have been levelling the surface which had become very rutted, in part caused by the motorbikes which are legal users of the byway (along with walkers, cyclists and horse riders). And also by drainadge problems on the steeper sections.

The repairs will hopefully last for two or more years and will keep this route safe for all users.
